Language carries with it the legacy of authoritarian and domination oriented societies of the past. Over time it has come to reflect the strategic preferences of those who chose to rule over others: demands, punishments, rewards, intimidation, and most importantly, moral judgment. This language and particular way of thinking continues to disconnect human beings from one another today, making violence, and the state, possible. If we are to create a peaceful and voluntary alternative, gaining clarity, insight, and competency into how we communicate with one another is essential.
