Hayek's structure of production and his article "Intellectuals and Socialism" have inspired many libertarians in their efforts to model social change, particularly regarding the path by which ideas influence public policy.

Application of this model to social change theory has come under scrutiny by others who prefer to view technological advancement that undermines government regulation as more effective than policy change.

I will explore arguments for and against both of these perspectives and the implications for how you should view your own contribution to the advancement of a free society.
